Selecting and Tagging your Real Christmas Tree

How do you get your very own real Christmas Tree?

In order to ensure your tree is perfect for your space, and that you find the one that will bring the most Christmas cheer into your home, we recommend you discuss and agree on the space you will be placing your tree before you come to the farm. You will need to have a clear idea of the height of your space in your home and the diameter your would like filled by the tree. This is important as the trees on the farm tend to look smaller in the field than when you get them home!

PRO TIP: Measure your space before you leave home!

Each tree is able to be lovingly chosen as you wander around the paddocks. We suggest that you allow yourself enough time to really enjoy the experience of choosing your tree, by having a couple hours spare to browse through the many trees available.

PRO TIP: Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, closed in shoes and waterbottles. It gets hot climbing the hill back to the carpark.

When you come to the farm, we provide a measuring pole so that you are able to judge the height of the tree and avoid the common mistake of choosing a tree too tall for your chosen space at home. Once you have located your tree, your tree will be tagged with coloured tape and we will record the location of your tree.

PRO TIP: All the best trees get tagged early in the season, so we suggest you come as early in November as you are able to.

We are open for Tree Tagging from Saturday 31st October then every weekend in November 8am – 5 pm.

Collecting your Real Christmas Tree

Atherton Christmas Tree Farm is open for tree cutting and collection, every day in December (until the 23rd) from 8am – 6pm.

Each tree purchased directly from our farm is charged per foot: $11 per foot for the 2020 season, up to 8 foot high. Price on application for trees that are over 8 ft high.

Tree netting is $8 per tree – and is available for all small to medium trees. Extra large trees are unable to be netted as they unfortunately do not fit through our tree baler. We recommend netting as it is easier to transport your tree and makes less mess in your car and home when transporting and setting up. The nets are easy to remove: once your tree is fully set up in your tree stand, you just cut the net off with a pair of scissors and you are ready to decorate!

Please place your used netting into recycle collection point at your nearest soft plastics collection point (Woolworths or Coles collect soft plastics).

PRO TIP: Make sure your tree is going to fit in your vehicle, and that you have appropriate tie-downs.

When you are ready for your tree in December, come out to the farm and we will cut your chosen tree while you wait! During peak times (during weekends) there may be a few families collecting their tree, so there may be a wait if we are busy.

If you require an extra large tree, please phone or message to book a collection time as large trees may require more than one person to cut and transport the tree to the owners vehicle – the larger the tree, the heavier they can get! If you do require an extra large tree, try to bring an extra pair of (strong) hands – to help with your tree, and to ensure you do not have any problems once you return home. We would like all our customers to get the very best experience from their Christmas tree, and trying to wrangle a large tree by yourself may not start your season off with the cheer we would like. Of course, having more people to help decorate your extra large tree is always more fun too! 😉

If you are collecting from one of the stockists, please contact them directly for their prices.
